Mike Milinkovich Eclipse Foundation Executive Director
Accelerating OSGi Adoption
Open standards and open source are highly complementary. When
working well together, they can spur the rapid and widespread
adoption of new technologies. This is the case with OSGi and
Eclipse. This talk will focus on providing an overview of how open
source and open standards intersect and how commercial interests
can leverage the opportunities they create. Along the way we will
touch on how Eclipse and OSGi have interacted to the benefit of
both, debunk a few myths about open source and look to a future
where open source and open standards co-operate for the benefit of
the industry. |
The Congress gathers the world's top experts on commercially available and developing OSGi
implementations, exploring the latest end-to-end architectures and
solutions in mobile, automotive, and home environments.

Kevin Meagher is one of the pioneers of The
Connected Home in the UK. In
2000, he founded Intamac Systems Ltd –
www.intamac.com – which he
has
grown to be a leading service provider of home monitoring and
security services.
Intamac has developed an Internet platform that will, together
with the Home
Hub or Gateway devices, be the key to the growth of the Connected
Home. The winner of several industry awards for best new
innovation, his company
specialises in Internet based monitoring and control and work to
provide partners with managed facilities to support new products
and services aimed at the mass market. Intamac are committed to
open standards and believe that growth in the Connected Home will
only be possible if we focus on customer needs. They also believe
that the nature of this new market will also demand new levels of
cooperation between manufacturers and service providers as the
boundaries between product and service become blurred. Their
systems and services have already been adopted by British Telecom
and other leading European manufacturers, as interest in the
Connected Home grows. Currently Managing Director of Intamac
Systems, Kevin is a Chartered Engineer with an MBA and
additionally is a recognised expert in aircraft systems and
logistics. As Group Captain in the Royal Air Force he worked with
complex
avionic systems on modern combat aircraft where networking was
essential to
improve their capability, cost, efficiency and safety. With the
advent of the Internet, Kevin saw how new server platforms could
be used to network systems and appliances in the home to deliver
these same benefits to consumers. It was out of this work that his
vision for The Digital Home was born.
